Wood countertops

Wood has been used as countertop material for centuries. With the invention of circular saw, finer, more decorative wood species found their way into the kitchens. Wood tops are classic, beautiful, natural and very practical. While they require the most maintenance, those tops are, probably, the best to be used for work surfaces. Wood does need to be oiled regularly to fill in scratches and protect the surface, spills need to be cleaned immediately and wood is not heat-resistant. However, it is food safe. which eliminates the need for cutting boards. Unfinished wood is not recommended near the sinks and wet areas, but with modern water resistant finishes, wood can be installed over or under the sink without issues. All of our wood tops come finished (choice of wax, rubio monocoat or polyurethane) with custom edge of your choice.

Wenge

Exotic wood from Africa, Wenge is highly sought for its outstanding decorative qualities and durability. Comes in plank style only with standard thickness 1 5/8", boards range from 3" to 6" wide.

Zebra Wood

Zebra wood is an exotic wood grown in Africa and changes little with age. Comes in plank style (shown) and edge grain. Boars in plank style run full length and range from 3" to 6" in width and edge grain has staves approximately 1 5/8" wide. Comes with rubion monocoat finish

Teak

Exotic wood from southeast Asia, it darkens a little with age. Thickness ranges from 3cm (standard for stone countertops) up to 2 1/4" thick, which opens new design possibilites. Boards run the full length and range from 3" to 6" wide.

Weathered white oak

Grown in North America, this wood comes in 4 finished and changes little with age. With plank or edge grain construction, it is one of the most versatile woods available. Plank boards are 3"- 6" wide and staves on edge grain are approximately 1 5/8" wide. Comes with rubio monocoat finish

Iroko

Exotic wood from Africa, Iroko darkens significantly and turns golden brown with age. The stunning pattern if this wood makes it highly decorative. Avalable in thickness up to 1 5/8" finished in rubio monocoat or polyurethane (matte or satin)

Walnut

Grown in North America, this relatively soft wood is one of the pretiest. It mellows and turns more golden with age. Comes oin plank style construction and any of the finishes available.

Hickory

This hard wood is grown in North America. While it is beautiful, it is prone to checking. Checks are not structural and should not stop you from using hickory. In fact, hickory is sometimes preferred because of this feature, since it has a highly popular "cottage" look.

Sapele

This hard wood is grown in tropical Africa, this wood is very clear with little to no knots and darkens a little with age. Comes in thickness up to 2 1/4" and with any of the available finishes, this wood is stunning!

This North American tree is relatively soft and darkens significantly with age. That in mind, it is one of the most popular woods due to its decorative qualities. Comes up to 2 3/4" thick and with any availanle finish, this wood will fit into any decore or style
